According Ishmael, the program to save the world reads as follows "Then here is a program: The story of Genesis must be reversed. First, Cain must stop murdering Abel. This is essential if you're to survive. The Leavers are the endangered species most critical to the world—not because they're humans but because they alone can show the destroyers of the world that there is no one right way to live. And then, of course, you must spit out the fruit of that forbidden tree. You must absolutely and forever relinquish the idea that you know who should live and who should die on this planet". so what he is basically saying is takers should become leavers and start to follow the laws of the earth. According to me I believe that human kind should learn to change there ideology before all. The change in thinking that the earth belongs to us, instead think, believe, and realize that we like animals, the ocean, and the land all belong to the earth. We need educate ourselves because that is the true power of the people. Once we educate ourselves I believe it up the person and people to become the change. Only once ideas, attitude, and activity level change will the earth stand a chance at change.

"'Yes,' I told him sternly. 'You are here, and look at you. You have nothing. You're naked and homeless. You live without security, without comfort, without opportunity.'" Page 225

Is there a more personal meaning when the author says this to Ishmael?

I believe there is a more personal meaning behind what the author is saying to Ishmael beause of how ishmael is living now and how much the author dislikes it. When these comments are said they have a personal sound to them. I apperciate how the author puts this in becuase it sound so real. This comment struck me becuase it sounds like something I would do. i am famous for making litttle remarks that come from the inside and slip out with out me even being almost aware of them. it is scary when an undersable trait of your own is seen in a book. i don't like having thing in common with this author he is really negative.

"Many peoples among the Leavers practiced agriculture, but they were never obsessed by the delusion that what they were doing was right, that everyone in the entire world had to practice agriculture... They didn't say to the people around them, `You may no longer live by hunting and gathering. This is wrong. This is evil, and we forbid it. Put your land under cultivation or we'll wipe you out.' What they said was, `...We want to be agriculturalists. You be hunter-gatherers and we'll be agriculturalists. We don't pretend to know which way is right. We just know which way we prefer."

Is this really true? Was it really just smooth sailing?

It is interesting to me that Ishmael talks about the change from hunter-gatherers to agriculturalists as a peaceful. I was taught that the agricultural revolution was the start of war. The argument started because there are fences. Before there were no borders and no need for the law of respect each others property. The one his new property no would dislike the nomadic lifestyle of the hunter-gathers. The hunter-gather probably didn't understand the concept of the land belonging to people. No one ever said to the hunter-gathers that they had to become agriculturalist but it was like there was another option. If the hunter-gathers did not get some land of there own there there would be nothing left but desert. For I see this as the fall and I find it interesting Ishmael said and thought differently.

Interview Blog #4

I have to interview someone on the subject of what they think about saving the world. I didn't want to go far but the assignment doesn't let me say, so i have changed the name to protect there identity from the public wbig opinionho so lets call this person, A. I will be Q. A was relaxed but little did I know for such a small person A sure did have a big opinion. The interview didn't go how i expect but, was informative in any respect.

Q: I need to interview someone.
A: OK, lets start.

Q: Do you think the planet is trouble?
A: Yes.

Q: Why do you think the planet is in trouble?
A: Because it is run men who like to rule on fear, don't put that put this instead, I think that the planet is in trouble because our society's have been based on fear which breeds uncertainly, greed, and violence, envy, and as a result some countries have way more then they need.

Q: Do you thinking the planet needs saving?
A: Yes, but I think we just need to come to the realization that it is not just going from the heaven's above.

Q: How can it be saved?
A: How can it be saved (silence) by coming to the realization that all people can eat, that we can produce enough food to feed everyone in the world. That if I have food on my plate I probably have enough to share

Q: What can the individual person do to save the world?
A: People should consume only what they NEED

"As we saw yesterday, creation wasn't complete when jellyfish appeared or when amphibians appeared or when reptiles appeared or even when mammals appeared. According to your mythology, it was complete only when man appeared."

The Story of Man

At first there was nothing except God and darkness. Then on the first day God said "let there be light" and there was light. Over the next four days God made everything else in the world the ocean, the plants, and the animals. God look at what he had made over the last few days andsaid "There is something missing". So on the sixth day God made man in the likeness of himself and named him Adam. Then God was done and on the seventh day he rested.

Adam soon grew lonely and cryed. God asked what was wrong and Adam said "I am lonely". So God created Eve so that adam would never be lonely again. That is how man AND woman came to be on this earth. (according to my grandmother and my bible)

Ishmael QQC #1

"I had to go down there, of course—had to satisfy myself that it was just another scam. You understand. Thirty seconds would do it, a single look, ten words out of his mouth. Then I'd know. Then I could go home and forget about it."

I wonder if he truly believed thirty seconds, a single look, and ten words would be enough to prove a man to be a fake? Is the cynical author really a closet optimist?

At this point in the novel the author had just gone on a rant how outrages it was to consider that the "teacher" that advertised in the newspaper could any help in saving the world. In fact, he would probably turn out to a a self-serving chauvinist that had the ability to continue this facade by his noodle head followers that eat up every word he said. Then he says "I had to go down there, of course—had to satisfy myself that it was just another scam. You understand. Thirty seconds would do it, a single look, ten words out of his mouth. Then I'd know. Then I could go home and forget about it." and I am left thinking how is any who has wanted something like this for so long, is hurting for a teacher going to be able to just walk any. I don't believe for a minute that the kind hope the author has could be put out with a look. It's like a fire and no matter how hard you want to you can't just go home and forget about it. As I was starting to read this book I thought it would be a book about a grumpy old man ranting and raving about the the terrible things in the world. This quote gives me hope. Hope that the cynical author is really a closet optimist. Here is to hope pray for me as I read further.
